Appointed in September 2024, Michael Wilford serves as the Honorary Consul for the Flemish Region of Belgium, with his office based in Antwerp. In this capacity, he represents the interests of both the Flemish Region and its citizens while fostering bilateral relations with the Republic of Seychelles.
With a longstanding connection to the Seychelles, Michael has visited the country regularly over the years and has previously acted as an independent advisor on diplomatic, cultural, and economic initiatives. His extensive experience in international relations and cross-cultural collaboration positions him well to strengthen ties between the two regions.
As Honorary Consul, Michael is committed to enhancing diplomatic, economic, and cultural cooperation between the Flemish Region and the Seychelles. His role involves facilitating trade and investment opportunities, supporting cultural exchanges, and assisting Seychellois nationals with consular matters when needed. Through his diplomatic efforts, he aims to build a stronger, mutually beneficial partnership between the two regions.
In his role as Honorary Consul, he will further enhance diplomatic relations between the Flemish Region and the Seychelles, focusing on cultural and economic collaboration while also providing support to local Seychellois in need.
